You cant mess up this cheesy, delicious bread! Its so simple to make and takes less than 15 min. If you’re feeling fancy you can always bake the bread from scratch, but if you don’t have time for that just grab some store bought Italian or Sourdough bread and start stuffing!
Ingredients
-Loaf of fresh baked bread (I like sourdough)
-2 hand fulls of fresh herbs of your choice, I used basil and oregano
-Store bought garlic butter spread or you can make your own (instructions below)
– 1 cup Shredded cheese of your choice
Instructions for Garlic Butter
- Soften ½ stick of salted butter and add in ¼ tsp garlic powder, ¼ tsp of garlic salt and dried herbs of your choice (I like to use basil, Italian seasonings, parsley and oregano) The more herbs the yummier!
- Combine all ingredients
Instructions for Bread
- Pre heat oven to 350 Degrees
- Place bread on an oven safe tray
- Begin to cut the bread in straight lines vertically (from top to bottom) but be careful not to cut all the way through the bottom of the bread. The idea is to create small pockets so you can “pull apart” the pieces after its baked.
- Next cut the bread from side to side, again make sure you don’t cut all the way through the bottom. After cutting you should have small squares which are all still connected.
- Use your fingers to pry open each crack and begin to spread or drizzle in the garlic butter. Slowly make your way through all the cracks in the bread. This can be time consuming but I promise in the end it tastes fantastic! Remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect or neat!
- Next, stuff each crack with fresh herbs and shredded cheese.
- If you have any remaining garlic butter or cheese you can drizzle it on the top of the bread
- Place the loaf in the oven and bake for 7-10 min until bread is crispy and cheese has melted. If you like your bread on the crispier side I recommend covering it in foil for the first 10 min then baking it uncovered for another 10 min
- Serve immediately
